Lead Backend Engineer position is open at a booming sports technology scale-up, that works alongside some of the largest organisations in sports. This is a UK based role, working remote with occasional travel to London a couple times a month with occasional client visits.
What this Lead Backend Engineer role entails:
You'll own the backend infrastructure and services, be a manager and guide for the other backend engineers, you'll also set the engineering standard that the team develops with. You'll also govern the usage of AI in backend development, and the products being built for clients. As Lead Backend Engineer you'll also need to provide backend time frames and technical counsel for presales and RFPs.
What you'll need:
- 5+ years of backend engineering, as well as 2+ years as a tech lead or an equivalent role
- Experienced in Go , with a Java being a bonus due to legacy services
- Experience with microservices at scale / high throughput systems is highly desirable
- Production level AWS skills, with PostgreSQL/MongoDB
- Third-party integrations at scale
- Used AI-assisted development tools as an efficient multiplier and LLM APIs
- Experience in data, sport, ticketing or high-traffic consumer platforms is another useful add-on
Location and Availability:
- UK based (remote), with travel to London a couple times a month and occasional client visits
- Availability within a month's notice is preferred
