Portfolio Manager
Portfolio Manager required for a large well-known company to strategically lead the planning, prioritisation, and successful delivery of a complex portfolio of business change projects, ensuring alignment with organisational goals and driving value across programmes.
This is a senior leadership role with responsibility for managing a team, overseeing performance, and championing best practices in portfolio governance, resource allocation, and stakeholder engagement.
As the Portfolio Manager, you will be responsible for the oversight and performance of multiple programmes and projects, ensuring effective prioritisation and resource alignment across the business. You’ll work closely with business and IT senior stakeholders to shape and steer the portfolio, track delivery progress, manage interdependencies, and provide strategic guidance. You’ll ensure all projects within the portfolio are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality, while maintaining clear governance and reporting structures. You’ll also lead and mentor your team, support recruitment and onboarding, and drive continuous improvement.
Expected Skills & Experience:
- 10+ years in portfolio, programme, or senior project delivery roles with a track record of leading large-scale business change portfolios.
- Strong background in people management including mentoring, performance management, and team development.
- Demonstrated experience in managing large-scale portfolios and balancing competing priorities across an organisation.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence and build relationships at senior/executive business and IT levels.
- Expertise in setting up and maintaining portfolio governance, quality assurance, reporting, and financial oversight.
- Familiarity with portfolio and project management tools, as well as Agile and Waterfall delivery models.
- PMP, Prince2 or equivalent; Agile knowledge desirable.
This Portfolio Manager role is ideal for a strategic leader who thrives in complex environments and is passionate about driving transformational change through effective portfolio delivery. They are offering a salary of £70,000 - £80,000 plus car allowance and other benefits, and hybrid working with 2/3 days in their Worthing office.
